Riding of Nepean-Carleton

(Electoral district 35050)

This political riding is used for both provincial and federal elections.

The riding includes the former city of Nepean and the former townships of Rideau and Osgoode. Nepean-Carleton runs from Highway #417 and Boundary Road in the east to Eagleson Road in the west. In the north it spans between Highway 417, the CN Rail line, Limebank Road, Leitrim Road and Hunt Club Road and Rideau River, Belmeade Road and Marionville Road in the south.

Major sources of employment include the federal government, retail trade and the service sector.

Riding history:

1976: Created from a redistribution of the former Grenville-Carleton riding.
1986: Renamed Nepean.
1996: Renamed Nepean-Carleton again, combined with part of Carleton-Gloucester and Lanark-Carleton ridings.
2000: Registered voters: 83,533
2004: Lines were redrawn to take in part of eastern Ottawa, up to Highway 417.
